Life can sometimes be difficult and challenging, but most of the time we cope with what life throws at us. However, sometimes things can become too overwhelming for us to cope with alone. It is at these times when talking to someone in confidence in a warm, trusting and non- judgemental setting can help us to deal with some of life’s many challenges.
The difficulty in recognising that help is needed and reaching out for that help is something I completely empathise with. My understanding of how empowering it can be to take that first step drives my passion and enthusiasm for helping others. My aim is always to provide a warm, caring environment in which people feel that a non-judgemental relationship can be built. I aim to teach and give positive tools to help you feel empowered and positive about the future.
Counselling is not about giving advice- my job is not tell you what to do; it is to listen, encourage and support you to find your own answers and choices within yourself.
I offer an integrative approach which draws on different forms of therapy. During the sessions, I utilize my training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Humanistic person centred, Transactional analysis and Psychodynamic therapy to find the most supportive and appropriate means of helping you.

Individuals with learning difficulties
I have a varied client base with both adults, children and adolescents. However, I also have extensive experience in counselling clients who have moderate learning difficulties such as ASD, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Global Development delay and Speech, Language and Communication Difficulties. Having worked in a special needs school for over six years, I know first- hand some of the difficulties individuals face. It is common for individuals on the autistic spectrum to suffer from anxiety, stress, depression and low self-esteem. I am able to support clients in managing these feelings.
My experience of working within a special needs school has also led me to work with parents/carers who are struggling to come to terms with their child’s diagnosis.
